Lesson idea: Kids take over Shakespeare’s Home

What a great “day in the life” experience!  Being a kid and working at Shakespeare’s home for the day!!!  I recently came across this a great little article out of the UK about some kids learning about the world of “work and decision making”.  But, what really hit my mind, was that they were in charge of the adults learning about Shakespeare.

kids at Shakespeare's trustWhat a great classroom activity to make Shakespeare fun!  Have kids dress up in Shakespeare garb, set the room up with a bunch of Shakespeare paraphernalia, and make believe that this is Shakespeare’s home!  Then have them present this to the parents or other kids in the school!  Hence, making the kids the teachers. (what better way to learn, then to teach!)

In my little mind, this will be awesome!  The kids will:

  • Have fun
  • Get to dress up
  • Teach and learn about Shakespeare
  • Have fun
  • Not have to do “normal” school work for a day or two!
  • And did I mention, have fun!

What kid wouldn’t want that great experience?!?!

If you do it, let me know how it goes!
